In risk management, we rely on models, data, and frameworks. Yet even the most sophisticated systems can be undermined by something far less technical, human cognitive bias.
Whether it’s overconfidence, confirmation bias, or groupthink, our minds naturally rely on mental shortcuts to process information quickly. While efficient, these shortcuts can skew our judgment, minimize developing risks, and create a misplaced sense of certainty, often without our awareness.
Join us as we share practical insights and strategies to help identify and overcome cognitive biases in risk management.
Presenter: Jason Rosenberg
Jason Rosenberg (he/him) is originally from Montreal. There he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (major in Finance) and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting from McGill University. Jason began his career working in public accounting and consulting, mainly with Ernst & Young.
He is now the Head of Risk & Resiliency at Autodesk - and leads the company’s Enterprise Risk Management, Global Business Resiliency, and Risk Advisory Services programs.
Jason recently co-authored an article titled "How to Overcome Cognitive Biases in Risk Management”, which explores biases shaping the Enterprise Risk Management field, and helps risk professionals develop practical strategies to counter their effects and limit their impact on business decisions.
